Just north of San Diego Mesa College is the Palmer &
Krisel-designed neighborhood of Linda Vista. There’s a few dozen homes clustered
together on winding streets just north of Marlesta Drive. This 1962 Krisel is priced
at $675,000, has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in 2,340 square feet and sits on a
deep .28-acre lot.
The front exterior is fantastic with scored-block, a private
courtyard and classic Krisel lines. There’s also a pretty sweet mature Dragon
Tree out back along with pool that appears to have been empty for a little
while. Inside is a different story. The property looks like its undergoing a
renovation with materials that are straight out of the do-it-yourself stores,
with some really strange choices being made. The fireplace looks like it was
updated sometime in the 1990s with some ill-fitting arches and rounded corners, but it can easily be
restored – hopefully there’s scored cinder block under all that drywall.
Luckily the exposed wooden beamed ceilings look to be in
pretty decent shape. There’s a lot of work needed on this one to bring it back
to the mid-mod gem that it is, but it’s got such great potential that I wanted
to share it with you here.

Hi, I think that this home is a Henry Hester design. Pretty sure that if you compare to the famous American Housing Guild photo of Schulman you will see this. Check out the Atrium. I was recently in this house considered buying it but decided to pass.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely a Hester-designed home.
