Built by the Devon Construction Company in 1955 is this
Parkwood La Mirada Palmer & Krisel-designed midcentury modern home on the
market for the first time in 42 years. With 1,406 square feet, this home
includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms and a detached two car garage on a
7,800 square-foot lot with an asking price of $493,000.
The exterior of the property still exudes classic Krisel
lines, with a wonderful combination of high window bands and four-pane floor to
ceiling windows. A large tree anchors
the grassy yard, proving shade for the shrubs and ivy planted at the base of
the yard and home. A small courtyard accessed by the master bedroom sits
adjacent to the front door, screening the front-facing windows for maximum
privacy.

Living room - nearly as mint as it was in 1955 |
Inside, the living, kitchen and dining rooms all sit at the
rear of the home while the bathrooms and two of the bedrooms and a breakfast nook sit at the front.
The living room is virtually untouched from 1955, featuring its original stacked
stone and paneling surrounding the fireplace, along with open beamed ceilings
and clerestory windows at the side of the home. These original details give a
great glimpse into the intended original appearance of the home.

Kitchen |
The dining room sits adjacent to the living room, and
overlooks the lush, grass backyard through floor-to-ceiling windows. The
kitchen sits adjacent to the dining room, and appears to have been updated at
some point in the early 1980s. The cabinetry is simple, raised panel, with laminate
counters and white appliances. Adjacent to the kitchen sits the laundry room
and service porch, accessing the backyard, while a breakfast nook sits at the front of the home open to the kitchen.

Guest bath |
The master bedroom sits at the front of the house, featuring
a large slider and floor-to-ceiling windows accessing the front-facing private
courtyard. The master shares a jack-and-jill style bathroom with the entry
hall, and it appears the master bath was updated at the same time as the
kitchen. The secondary bath sits at the front of the home and also features a
1980s update, and the secondary bedrooms are split from the master.

Covered patio at rear of yard |
The detached garage sits at the rear corner of the backyard,
providing a long, linear driveway with plenty of room for guest parking. A
covered patio runs the length of the rear of the home, supported by classic
midcentury V-shaped poles (the same style of poles we recently saw on the 1959
time capsule home in Palm Springs). The remainder of the yard is classic
turf, with shrubs surrounding the perimeter of the yard.
This home has been well cared for over the past 42 years,
and appears to be a solid midcentury home perfect for preservation and
restoration.
