Built in 1955 by builder W.E. Robertson is this Palmer &
Krisel-designed midcentury home in Anaheim, CA. Homes in this development don’t
come on the market that often, and this four bedroom, two bathroom home with
1,225 square feet, an in-ground pool and an asking price of $498,800 offers a
rare opportunity to acquire one of these properties.

Front of home |
Situated on a 7,000 square foot lot, the home sits
lengthwise along the side of the lot, with the bedrooms at the front of the
home and the living areas oriented towards the rear. The two-car garage sits at
the rear of the lot, providing a long, linear driveway capable of accommodating
multiple vehicles. The small front yard consists of turf and a few small plantings,
creating an opportunity to makeover the space with a more water-conserving
palette.

Entry |
|
Entry hall |
The exterior of the home has been covered in chunky lace
stucco, and original windows have been swapped out for mullioned white vinyl
replacements. The entry sits midpoint on the side of the home, and opens into a
small entry hall leading into the rear-facing living room. The original
modernist fireplace still retains its original form, which has been covered in
glossy ceramic tile and a brass screen.
|
Living room |
|
Dining room and kitchen |
The open beamed celotex ceilings are still on place throughout
the home, which add height and volume to the living areas. The rear-facing
walls of glass have been minimized, with original south-facing rear
clerestories covered over and half-height windows reducing the amount of
natural light entering the home.
|
Kitchen |
The kitchen sits just off the entry of the home, and
includes raised panel cabinetry topped with granite counters and stainless
steel appliances. The current L-shaped layout of appliances and cabinets doesn’t
appear to be the most efficient, and the space could benefit from a reimagined
layout.

The four bedrooms sit towards the front of the home, and are
all relatively diminutive in size, as four bedrooms in 1,225 square feet is a
tight fit. They do retain pretty much their original layout, and like the rear
of the home, the front bedroom clerestories have been removed. The bathrooms
contain some of the most committed tilework we’ve seen, with walls, floors and
ceilings covered in blue tiles.

Backyard and pool |
|
Backyard and back of garage on right |
The south-facing backyard is relatively small in size,
occupied mainly by the in-ground pool and hardscape. A covered patio lines the
rear of the home, and a small patch of turf lines the rear of the yard. The
hardscape creates lots of opportunity for entertaining and outdoor living, and
there’s plenty of room to reimagine the space and make the space more inviting.
This property offers a great opportunity to acquire a
midcentury home chock full of potential in a great central Anaheim community. Redfin.com
predicts this one will be a quick sell, so be sure to check it out before its
gone.
