Built in 1963 in central Anaheim is this Palmer & Krisel
designed home which has recently popped up back on the market. Sited on a 6,100
square-foot lot, this 1,575 square-foot home includes three bedrooms and two
bathrooms, a two car garage and carries an asking price of $519,000.
Built in a neighborhood that offered a variety of housing
styles, Palmer & Krisel homes are found mixed in with models by other
architects, creating a varied streetscape. This particular home offers quite a
few great original and vintage features, along with some newer updates.
The front of the home contains some great vintage screening materials,
with what appears to be original horizontal slating in front of the master bathroom
window adjacent to the front door, and a great square-design screen adjacent to
the bathroom window screen. The east-facing front yard is mainly turf, with a
large street tree offering morning shade.
Living room |
Inside, the living and dining rooms sit at the rear of the
home, while the kitchen and master bedrooms sits at the front. The secondary bedrooms
are split from the master, located on the north side of the home. There’s not
many photographs provided of this home, so be sure to check it out in person to
get the full impression.
Dining room |
Kitchen |
Laundry adjacent to kitchen |
The living room is anchored by Krisel’s signature modernist
fireplace along the southern wall, with vintage wood paneling and cut stone accents.
Floor to ceiling windows and sliders provide views of the backyard, while the adjacent
dining room is separated by a vintage decorative screen. The kitchen appears to
be original, with blue tile counters and large windows overlooking the front yard.
Guest bath |
Secondary bedroom |
The guest bathroom appears to have its original floating
vanity, with sliding cabinet doors and tile counters, which appears to be in
excellent condition. Only one photo of one secondary bedroom is shown, but it’s
got a great floating wall unit that we hope stays with the home. No photos of the master or master bath are provided.
Backyard and covered patio |
There’s only one photo provided of the back yard, which
indicates that there’s a raised covered patio off of the living and dining
areas and mature shrubbery lining the perimeter of the yard.
Overall the home appears to have some great vintage features
still intact, and could be a great restoration project.
