Carport |
Last sold in December for $110,000, this home has been
freshly flipped and cleaned. The exterior of the home still maintains its
original lines and form, with an open side-entry two-car carport and soaring
gable elevation with clerestory windows. Bars at some point were added over the
windows and entry door, and they remained as part of this flip. The landscape
is mature, with older plantings and a mature olive tree out front, and the
exterior of the home has recently been painted.
Inside, the living, dining and family rooms all face the
rear of the home, while the bedrooms and baths are all at the front. Those with
a keen eye will recognize this floor plan as nearly identical to yesterday’s
featured Krisel home in La Mirada, CA. The original vaulted ceilings with
their original texture are still in place, and new large 24” tile has been
added throughout the home.

Living room and master bedroom entrance |
The living room overlooks the swimming pool area and back
patio through floor-to-ceiling glass windows, obscured slightly by the added
security bars. The living is anchored by Krisel’s signature fireplace, which
has had stacked blocks, a mantle, and raised hearth added to it at some point
during the later 1960s or early 1970s.

Family/dining room |
The galley kitchen and family/dining room sit adjacent to
the living room and have received the same flooring and updates as the living room.
The kitchen features two differing style of cabinets, older lower cabinetry
which has been painted a dark brown floor, and a newer shaker cabinet box has
been added over the slid-in-range in lieu of a traditional vent hood. Newer
granite counter tops and linear mosaic backsplashes have been added, creating an
interesting juxtaposition of very new, trendy materials mixed with old. The
kitchen has also been sealed off to the living room, which cuts off the flow of
the room but creates additional wall space in the living area.

Master bathroom |
The master bedroom sits of the entry hall, and overlooks the
side yard. The original master bedroom closet and dressing area has been
removed to create a larger entry hall, and the master bedroom door has been
pushed back. A new closet has been added to the side of the home, adjacent to
the master bedroom window. The master bathroom originally was jack-and-jill
style with the entry, and has been converted to a single-entry room with
updated fixtures indicative of a big-box store style renovation.

Jack-and-jill bath |
The secondary bedrooms feature a jack-and-jill bathroom
between them, which has been updated in exactly the same manner as the master.
The signature Krisel sunken tub is still in place; however the tile surround
has been replaced with a fiberglass surround topped with ornate molding. Both
bedrooms overlook the west-facing front yard through and feature large clerestory glass windows.

Pool and packyard |
The backyard features a large, in-ground pool with diving
board, and a small uncovered patio and more mature landscape. There’s lots of
room to revision the yard or enjoy as-is.
This home is clean, move-in ready and offers lots of
potential to enjoy as-is or can be renovated and restored back to its modernist
roots. Either way it’s a great property at a decent price.
