Paradise Palms Traditionally Renovated & Expanded Palmer & Krisel Pool Home For Sale – Las Vegas, NV

Built in 1962 by Paradise Homes is this traditionally renovated Palmer & Krisel-designed home new to the market. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,724 expanded square feet on a 12,100 square foot lot with in-ground pool, the asking price of this home is $230,000.

Front of home
Sited on a small seven-home cul-de-sac this biggest locational drawback that this home faces is that it sides up to a six lane roadway. The exterior of the home features its original checkerboard blockwork on the two car carport along with sharply creased overhangs on the roofline. A modest addition sits on the north side of the home which adds a butterfly roofline to the property, while the front yard is a blank slate ready for a modernist makeover.

Entry

Inside, the living and dining rooms sit at the rear of the home, while the master and secondary bedrooms are split. The inside of the home has been given a very traditional makeover, and most interestingly the ceilings in the living, kitchen and dining rooms appear to have been all been lowered. All of the original clerestory windows located on the front and rear of the home have been removed and stuccoed over, most likely as a result of the lowered ceilings.

Living and dining

The living and dining rooms would have originally featured a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors overlooking the pool and backyard, however those have been removed and replaced with a pair of traditional French doors. The original fireplace appears to be intact in the living room, partially obscured by an entertainment center; however the original block hearth appears to have been removed.

Kitchen and dining

Kitchen
The kitchen sits open to the dining room at the front of the home, adjacent to the entry, separated by an added archway. Raised-panel cabinetry topped with granite counters have been added, while white appliances round out the room. The once-vaulted ceiling has been flattened, and can lights have been added while the clerestory windows have been removed.

The master bedroom sits along the north side of the home and has been expended into a master suite. A pair of French doors open to the pool area, and the master, like the rest of the home, is fully tiled. The two secondary bedrooms sit along the south side of the home, and feature mirrored closet doors and ceiling fans. Both bathrooms have been given a traditional makeover, with beige tilework and mosaic accents.

The backyard features a large pool at the center of the yard, and a covered patio sits at the rear of the home. A concrete patio sits between the home and pool, and the rest of the yard, like the front, has been filled with pink rock. A tall wall of oleanders offers buffering between the home and the adjacent roadway, and a raised planter sits at the rear of the pool.

For those that don’t mind a little roadway noise, this home offers potential buyers a move-in ready home that can be personalized over time.

Butterfly Roofed Paradise Palms Palmer & Krisel Home For Sale – Las Vegas, NV

Built in 1963 by Paradise Homes is this butterfly-roofed Palmer & Krisel-designed home for sale in Paradise Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this home has been slightly expanded to 1,643 square feet, sits on an 8,700 square-foot lot with an in-ground pool and carries an asking price of $225,000.

Front of home

With a white quartz stone front yard complete with a small patch of astroturf, the home has great mid mod curb appeal. The front of the west-facing home maintains its original lines with the exception of a small addition projecting into one bay of the two-car carport, and a grey and white color scheme with pops of turquoise give this home a fun vibe.

Inside, the front-facing kitchen has been opened to the living and dining rooms, which sit at the rear of the home. The living room still maintains its original modernist block fireplace with added mirrors, along with original clerestory windows. Glossy white porcelain tiles line the living areas of the home, and set a sleek, modern tone.

The kitchen has been updated with dark gloss cabinetry, marble counters and stainless steel appliances. A central island allows for easy entertaining between the living room, with small pendant lighted sited above. A small family room addition sits off the kitchen on the south side of the home. The family room is open to both the kitchen and laundry room, and provides access to the backyard and small sunken den that sits in the second bay of the carport.

The home was originally built as a 1,200 square foot four-bedroom home, and as seen typically in this model, two of the bedrooms have been combined to form a true master with a walk-in closet. The remaining two bedrooms sit at the front and rear of the home and are relatively diminutive in size, but feature their original windows and clerestories. Both bathrooms have been updated with marble surrounds, new fixtures and Ikea vanities.

A large, rectangular swimming pool serves as the anchor for the backyard, with a white wooden pergola near the south side of the yard. The yard is mostly pavement with no live plants, only a few white rock and astroturf accents, but allows for plenty of room for entertaining and personalization.

This midmod home is definitely eye catching and move-in ready, and shouldn’t last long at this price.

Paradise Palms Golf Course Palmer & Krisel For Sale – Las Vegas, NV

Situated on the 6th fairway of the Las Vegas National Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada is this 1963 Palmer & Krisel-designed home in the community of Paradise Palms. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 2,003 expanded square feet, an in-ground pool and spa and a two-car garage on a 12,600 square-foot lot, the asking price of this home is $349,900.

Side of home with secondary driveway

Last updated in the mid to early 1980s, this home has been sitting on the market for nearly a month now due to its high-end asking price for a mid-grade home. There’s not much original left on this home, but it’s got great lines and solid bones to become a great showplace.

The exterior of the home has been clad in vinyl siding along with brick veneer accents, which cover what would have been a sand stucco finish with decorative block accents. The original two-car carport has been converted to a two-car garage, and two separate driveways flank either side of the grassy front yard.

Living and entry hall beyond

Dining and living room

The home is entered through a private gated courtyard located adjacent to the garage, and the interior entry hall is partially lined in vintage grasscloth.  The living and dining rooms overlook the south-facing backyard through a pair of large sliding glass doors topped with original clerestories. Anchoring the living room is a dramatic modernist fireplace, with original angular overmantle and floating concrete hearth which has been tiled over with granite tiles.

The kitchen sits open to the dining room, and originates from the 1980s, with oak raised-panel cabinetry and ornate leaded glass display doors. Tile countertops and a mixture of old and newer appliances make up the rest of the room. Just off the kitchen and dining rooms sits a den/family room addition, with wet bar, built in bookcases and a wall mounted a/c unit.

The master bedroom sits at the front of the home, and still features its large original north-facing clerestory windows with vaulted ceilings. A small dressing area leads to the master bath, which much like the kitchen features some very strong 1980s elements including oak cabinetry and a shell sink. The two secondary bedrooms sit along the east side of the home, along with the guest bath, which was last updated with the kitchen and master bath.

Pool and back of home

Pool and golf course views

The backyard features an enticing, curvilinear pool and spa overlooking the Las Vegas National Golf Club. A covered patio hugs the rear of the home, and large, mature olive trees fill the grassy back yard with shade.  A tall net fence protects the home from wayward golf balls, while allowing views to the Flamingo Wash beyond.

Despite the excessively high asking price, this home is a great candidate for a long-term renovation or restoration project; or at least will require a buyer with vision willing to pay top dollar for a renovation project.
